So what do you think the percentage of people who can’t change their own spare tire??? I would assume the percentage of girls is higher than of guyss…not to be sexist, but just my common sense and society tells me that girls wouldn’t bother with flat tires. BUT what if you were stuck on the side on the highway, say the I-5, where cellphones might not work to call AAA. Then what? Wait for a stranger to pull over? YEAH RIGHT, THIS IS AMERICA, people don’t even stop to say hi. Onstar maybe? Well what if you’re rollin in a Honda Accord like most of my Asian homies? So wait til a tow truck comes to charge you a few hundred bucks OR change it yourself. Read more...

Guess what today is? Another installment of Arowana Fridayyyyyy. Sometimes I wish everyday was Friday, but then that would just mean Saturday or Sunday would never come. Anyways, today we’re going to be checking out a music video we did a while back, ROUND ROUND, with our homies Kevnish, Prohgress, and J-Splif (with short hair) from FAR EAST MOVEMENT. If you ever bought a Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift HD DVD, you’d actually find the music video on there. Sick huh. It wuz until Blue-Ray kicked HD’s ass! Read more...

That’s right Los Angeles residents! For one night only, midnight November 28th, the Landmark Nuart Theater on Santa Monica will be showcasing BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA…one of my FAVORITE movies of ALL TIME. Jack Burton’s tank top, Wang’s perfect English, Egg Shen’s twitching eye, Lo Pan and his three disciples kicking ass, the girl with GREEN EYES. This is John Carpenter’s finest moment. And probably Kim Cattrall’s (SEX IN THE CITY) break out role. (I don’t count Police Academy) Read more...

The other day we had lunch with former executive director of LINK, Adrian Hong. Liberty in North Korea (LINK) is a non-profit organization which creates awareness about the suffering and torturing thats happening in North Korea. It was absolutely mind blowing to hear about the concentration camps, the inequality of human rights, and the oppression thats happening RIGHT NOW in North Korea. Currently there are dozens of camps that hold over 200,000 citizens including children where they are forced to do such things like biochemical experiments and forced manual labor. THIS IS KIDS WE’RE TALKING ABOUT. WTF! Remember Schindler’s List, well swap out the Jews and put in Koreas. Oh and its not 1944, like 60 years ago, its today. TODAY! Read more...

Check out this new movie with Clint Eastwood. Most people know him as one of the greatest actors of all time. He’s won oscars for Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven. He was Dirty Harry man! But some people (hopefully only a few) don’t know that he’s a damn good director too. Million Dollar Baby was crazy. Changeling (it was worth my bargain matinee) was tight. Letters of Iwo Jima and Flag of our Fathers I enjoyed. And Mystic River, that was sweet. And now his new movie, GRAN TORINO. Read more...

For those that haven’t seen the post before, were having the first Arowana Films T-shirt Contest. All you have to do is simply subscribe on the right with your email and check back Thanksgiving weekend. As of now, we have 5 whole subscribers, so the chances are pretty good that you’ll win. I’m no gambling man, but those odds are hard to find. And don’t think we have the cheap AAA t-shirts, this batch is printed on legit American Apparel which really do cost 20$ at the store (without our tight logo). Check out the shirts here. And as a tribute to American Apparel, here’s a video we did a while back with Ali Wong and Chris Garcia. Don’t worry, whatever you thought you saw, was your imagination. Read more...

Look whats been circulating the web, the new Star Trek Trailer. Someone recorded it during the Quantum of Solace previews. Trailer looks awesome! Bootleg camera work looks even better. That guy has a future. I think I spotted John Cho for a quickie and Zoe Saldana looks pretty good in uniform. Trekkie fans UNITE! Cmon, you know you watched Jean-Luc Picard in the Next Generation.
What kind of talent is always available, always in a good mood, has their own lighting, never goes on strike, will work for food, and only needs water?

Have you ever wondered where all those old gi-normous computers end up? Maybe in the ocean? Or perhaps just with the rest of the trash? NOPE! I heard this years ago about what happens to the “recycled” computer parts and other gadgets that we get rid of. If you think about, those 50 pound computer screens we all use to have, those last generation cell phones, those old school VHS tape decks ALL go somewhere. And now there’s proof…CHINA! Of course leave it to Americans to ship their WASTE to the cheapest bidder. You have to appreciate the great investigative reporting that 60 Minutes does. I use to work with circuit boards and electronic chips before, and trust me, its VERY UNHEALTHY to breathe in the tin-lead. Read more...
