Special treat for everyone tonight (Wednesday, Dec 17th). Live online, FOR FREE, FREE, FREE, Tatum Jones is having a special performance on the Future Rockstars of America site. Isn’t that freakin awesome?!! These guys sing hiphopapella and are from the bay area too. They’ve been fortunate to have made their mark in Hollywood. Do you know how?
If you don’t remember these guys, they were the finalist for the first season reality TV show, America’s Got Talent (David Hasseloff, Sharon Ozbourne). Back then, they were called At Last and they were the talk of the town, the Asian American town, probably every town. These boys were singing for audiences of all ages and races every night in living rooms across America. It was so amazing the attention and the buzz they created. Why? Not because they were Asian and they got all their friends and family voting for them. But for the simple reason, THEY HAVE TALENT! Read more...

Check out this video Arowana Films put together with comedian Danny Cho. He’s been seen on MAD TV as well as some standup comedy around LA. After seeing the Bush shoe throwing video, we had to respond with something crazy of our own. Lucky for us, Danny’s long lost uncle is Kim Jong Il. The resemblance is pretty right on. For more info on Danny, click here.
I totally saw something cool this weekend during my Sunday football watching binge. On the ESPN Classic channel (Ch 208 for Directv peeps), I spotted a film I saw at the Visual Communication Asian American Film Festival a few years back. The flick was called American Pastime. Anyone ever heard or seen it yet?
The story takes place at the Topaz War Relocation Camp in Utah in 1941. It was a camp which housed thousands of people during the Japanese American internment during World War II. The plot starts after the Executive Order 9066 that FDR signed. For those who don’t know about E.O. 9066, it was when the “government” got scared that the Japanese Americans were some sorta secret spies. And basically forced them to move out of their homes, live in a camp in the middle of the desert, with fences closing them in, with US Army soldiers patrolling it. WOW! Read more...

Did you see the farewell an Iraqi reporter gave President George Bush? hahahahaha. The guy had to be about twenty feet away and he just barely missed Bush. That guy had an arm, but no accuracy. Kinda like WILD THANG. Have you guys seen the BUSH COUNTDOWN we’ve started. Everyday I look at it, it makes me smile.
We know we’re about a few months late talking about CHEAP GAS but seriously, WE LOVE CHEAP GAS! I mean everyone is so use to $3 or $4 a gallon. I’ve grown use to paying top dollars for a full tank a gas. Put in the credit card, max it out at 50 bucks and put in the credit card again to finish the tank. Almost like paying for a plane ticket to the Bay Area or something. But now, after the whole economy going to SHIEEEET, the price of oil per barrel has gone down…WAY DOWN. AND where in the city would you find the cheapest gas around town. That’s right, the GHETTO aka the Chevron down the street from our house. $2.09 baby!!! Maybe I’ll go faster than the optimal 55 mph I usual drive to save gas. Read more...

Jin – Dim Sum from arowana films on Vimeo.
Arowana Friday people! We’re moving into December and closing out 2008. WOW! Today we’ll be looking at a music video by Jin the MC titled YUM DOM CHA (translation Drink Some Tea). What’s awesome about this song is its sung in Cantonese (Chinese), and for all you Canton villagers, the lyrics are on point and absolutely funny as hell. If you’re Chinese and go to Dim Sum with your parents growing up, every word sung in this video makes total sense. Down to the bill paying too. Read more...

Since there’s so much strugglin goin on for people and their bills, I’d thought I would investigate the possibility of other financial income. No, no, I haven’t gotten that desperate to doing porn, but it has a lot of potential. I’m talking about something men would call, HAVING A SUGAR MOMMA. Ok, random thoughts here but with the advance technology of the internet, I think it’s quite possible to find a SUGAR MOMMA. Read more...

Every now and then a movie takes us on a journey that we may never experience in a million lifetimes. Slumdog Millionaire is a cultural diamond that we all must see. Directed by the master director Danny Boyle (I must say, Britain has some badass directors) who also directed 28 Days Later, Trainspotting, and more recently Sunshine is really at an amazing level with his story telling. Boyle has always been one to push the stylistic element to enhance the environmental landscape of his settings. Boyle romanticizes India like Wong Kar Wai paints Hong Kong. Along with a great modern story, every element plays a symbolic role in developing the characters. I don’t want to ruin the story because you must and will go see this movie, so I’m just going to give you my opinion and inspiration…
Just when we think we have a grasp on the world’s reality, something as simple as a movie can completely adjust our perspectives to remember what is truly important in our lives. And as this world becomes a smaller place, there is a direct effect to this which is shown in the poor country of India. The American/Western dream has infiltrated the minds and cultures of the world where greed, money, and vanity have become the desire. We live in a world where the consequences are so foreign to us that we never have to actually deal with them. And although this world is a smaller place, the differences are evolving in polar directions. Read more...
