Battery life has always been an issue for users on the go. Thats why the top accessory for the netbook industry is the extended cell battery. Most to all netbooks come stock with a 3 cell which offer about 2-3 hours of normal use. Lenovo now offers a 6 cell that offers about 5 of battery life per charge which is much more accomodating to users. With 9 cells on the horizon, battery life will soon be less of a concern and you never have to bring that embarrassing power cord with you to Starbucks ever again!!

“Installing the ExpressCard today ensures that all your existing and future high bandwidth devices will operate at their optimum performance, without processing bottlenecks”
A lot of Netbook users will notice right away that there are no available firewire ports available in todays models for photography, video, and additional hard drive needs. Lenovo has introduced the first netbook in the United States with a Express Card slot for its S10. Most likely, this will become a universal staple for future netbooks, but for now it’s important to note the size of your slot, 34 mm or 54mm. These cards are very handy and for under $70, one could be all yours. Read more...

Sometimes, you can’t help but feel proud of the netbook investment you made over the holidays. Its functional, sturdy, and can fit in a glove compartment. They come stock with built-in webcams, 8′-11′ in screens, and sub $500 price tags… but ultimately, they are low end machines in terms of computing power. However, if you can get past that, here’s the great news: They’re some of the most upgradable, portable machines we have ever seen. Here is a list of 10 accessories that will make your new netbook even more powerful. (for viewer purposes, the list was accounted for with the Lenovo S10 in mind)

Francis Spufford describes Where the Wild Things Are as ‘one of the very few picture books to make an entirely deliberate, and beautiful, use of the psychoanalytic story of anger’ in his discussion, The Child that Books Built. Spufford notes the transformation of Max’s room to, ‘the private forest of fantasy and the unconscious, from which Max journeys(in ”a private boat”) to meet the Wild Things of his Anger’. He goes on to detail why he doesn’t see the story as one of fright, ‘It didn’t occur to me to fear the bedposts bursting into leaf, or the terrible teeth the Wild Things gnash, or the terrible eyes that roll. I thought the end took away the risk from it all.’ Mr Spufford makes a great point in retrospect, but to a young reader discovering Maurice Sendak’s book for the first time, it can be very intense. Hows that war thing doing? Whens this recession going to end? Hows Hillary doing as Dept of State? I found myself wondering this as I was surfing the white house website for the first time. But I found something much more important. March Madness has arrived and President Barack Obama himself has added an interesting twist this year. The White House has shared his picks with us all on the official white house blog. Our Chief of State has chosen the strong Roy Williams’ Tar Heels of North Carolina to win the tournament this year, in consensus with 60% of America in ESPN’s National Bracket. Interesting. Our entry here sees an upset by the fiery Rick Pitino led Cardinals of Louisville. Its shaping up to be an exciting tournament, early results show our Arowana in the top 97% percentile while Obama is cruising in at a respectable 53%. No matter the outcome, we predict a victory for America (and maybe a cabinet position in our future?). Read more...

Two journalists from the emmy award winning Current TV were detained Tuesday by North Korean soldiers after they ignored their orders to stop filming. Laura Ling and Euna Lee are reporters for the San Francisco based media outlet and were planning a border trip to report on North Korean refugees. The Yalu river they were headed towards is a ‘frequent crossing point for both trade and the growing number of North Koreans seeking to flee their country’ as reported by Kwang-Tae Kim. Ling’s sister, Lisa Ling, was a cohost on the View and currently does field reports for Oprah. The last correspondence from Ling was a Twitter message stated that she was at the Seoul airport headed to the China/NKorea border and, ‘Hoping my Kimchee breath will ward off all danger.’ A third member of their team, the cameraman, was said to have escaped arrest at the last moment.
