YOU’RE MINE!!! Last Tuesday Arowana Films shot a online video contest for Louisiana Hot Sauce. We put the brilliant minds together and came up with a funny script. With the shortage of actors who are about to go on strike, we had to dig deep into our talent pool and use ourselves. I did have formal training in drama from the Elementary School of the Kickball but I dunno if Smokey the Bear counts. “Crackle, crackle”. But to make this video come alive, we had to find a female talent…and fast! Read more...
Its Arowana Friday BOYEEE! Every Friday we feature some work we’ve done in the past or projects we want to launch. Kinda like our own film festival. But we also talk about the making and the behind of the scenes of it. For a special treat, we got two new videos for you this Friday. About a month ago, we showcased the Pisces Project to you. Something experimental and cool since shooting fish is soooo easy to do. But to try and convey a story with them is the challenge. Here’s the first video we did. Read more...
Check out this video Arowana Films put together with comedian Danny Cho. He’s been seen on MAD TV as well as some standup comedy around LA. After seeing the Bush shoe throwing video, we had to respond with something crazy of our own. Lucky for us, Danny’s long lost uncle is Kim Jong Il. The resemblance is pretty right on. For more info on Danny, click here.
Did you see the farewell an Iraqi reporter gave President George Bush? hahahahaha. The guy had to be about twenty feet away and he just barely missed Bush. That guy had an arm, but no accuracy. Kinda like WILD THANG. Have you guys seen the BUSH COUNTDOWN we’ve started. Everyday I look at it, it makes me smile.

Arowana Friday people! We’re moving into December and closing out 2008. WOW! Today we’ll be looking at a music video by Jin the MC titled YUM DOM CHA (translation Drink Some Tea). What’s awesome about this song is its sung in Cantonese (Chinese), and for all you Canton villagers, the lyrics are on point and absolutely funny as hell. If you’re Chinese and go to Dim Sum with your parents growing up, every word sung in this video makes total sense. Down to the bill paying too. Read more...
Guess what today is? Another installment of Arowana Fridayyyyyy. Sometimes I wish everyday was Friday, but then that would just mean Saturday or Sunday would never come. Anyways, today we’re going to be checking out a music video we did a while back, ROUND ROUND, with our homies Kevnish, Prohgress, and J-Splif (with short hair) from FAR EAST MOVEMENT. If you ever bought a Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift HD DVD, you’d actually find the music video on there. Sick huh. It wuz until Blue-Ray kicked HD’s ass! Read more...
What kind of talent is always available, always in a good mood, has their own lighting, never goes on strike, will work for food, and only needs water?
The talented Pisces which we all know as the Fish.
We’ve been working furtively and creatively on a series that I want to share with you all. This will be classified as the Pisces Project. This is the first project. Read more...
Here’s another Arowana Films world premiere collab with JUMP Corp. For those who don’t know, JUMP Corp is based out of New York which sell a line of designer shoes and def has style anyone can represent. Nothing extremely flashy but still will turn heads. Sung was first approached by them and they’ve been such great people, how could we not collaborate with them. It was great working with our boy Sung again, shooting on the streets of New York gorilla style. And when I mean gorilla, I mean outta the cage, cops chasing us, switching out tapes so they don’t confiscate it, gorilla style. Read more...
Once again, another successful and memorable experience collaborating with our long time friend Ali Wong and her comedic partna Chris Garcia. Those two are some intelligent and funny ass people. Seriously, you try being a stand up comedian. I would have to say we’ve known Ali since probably 1995, maybe longer. (old age kickin in) Some of us grew up with her in a youth community center in San Francisco Chinatown (our hood) called Cameron House. Besides my good friend’s older sister, Ali was the only other girl I had heard and felt her FART! That was when I knew she was destine for greater accomplishments. Read more...
