Its been a long journey with many friends, foes, and colleagues, this filmmaking thing we do. Arowana Films has evolved and changed quite a lot in the past 10 years. And we couldn’t have done it without the support and collaboration of many. But we will continue…check out our old shit!
There are some awesome things coming out of our little Los Angeles Community and even though I’m not located there I have a lot of history there. Ktown Cowboys really inspired me to share this series with the internet. Also my departure will add some closure rather than this project just dying on some hard drive that we had. Hopefully you will be engaged and maybe we can get some money to shoot this whole thing out.
Arowana FILMS presents…
THE MAN FROM NORTH KOREA
This is a story about a North Korean refugee, JAE, who comes to Los Angeles to speak at a human rights conference about the situation in North Korea. His arrival has brought a lot of attention and although his journey is righteous there will be consequences to his delivery. This whole quest takes place in one nite in Los Angeles’s ethnic enclave known as K-Town. Read more...
This project was inspired by Josh’s dream that he used to tell me about. He said he had this re-occuring dream that he could dunk. He said everything about this dream was awesome until he woke up.
Dreaming is an amazing gift that we all have been given. It is up to us to believe and achieve.

So, yeah, our attempt at blogging is anything but consistent. But I think some day we will get this all figured out. Anyways…we have been busy, so check these out.
This is one of the greatest fight sequences of 1960s. Monkey King was truly a childhood friend of mine. I think alot of Chinese American kids in the 80s got to grow up with this fantastic hero. Anyways, he has been recreated in modern movies, but this is one classic cartoon that has outmatched anything that has been remotely close to his presence. Does anyone remember him on Sesame Street when Big Bird visited China?
I know we’ve been lacking on keeping up this blog, but blogging everyday is just not in our blood. But we will continue to share and so for those few that continue to watch us, we really appreciate it. On that note, we have been quite busy. We’ve been working real hard on some new content and projects that can actually pay the bills. Here’s a teaser trailer of what we got coming up next week for Halloween!
Arowana Films proudly presents MANIVORE!
This doc has got some potential. I wonder how scary it was to shoot this. I wonder if we are even that ballsy to go after footage like this. And all this shot on a little DSLR. The world of shooting is changing. Check it when you got time.
So, there’s a good reason why we were gone for most of this year from our presence on the internet. We have been working on this feature length documentary for the past six months. Amazingly this project started in February as a dream (a real dream that FM’s
Kevnish really dreamt about!) and about 6 months later it has evolved into a tangible watchable 72 minute project. Divine intervention was truly at play in this process and our lives have been radically changed. Below is the concept trailer that we made from our first shoot on this project. Watch it. Check it. Check up with this website as we get it all up and running. 1040 Movie Website
