These guys are definitely kinda weird. But for some reason I just can’t get off this song. And although some may view this as a bit culturally wrong, I think its more exciting to see artists be artists. A lot of singers are just way too cool for school. There’s songs out there on the radio that you just get sick of instantly. It’s not the artist’s fault. I mean, to hit mainstream, you gotta make something snappy. Sure, we could blame the radio stations for playing it ten times an hour. But I’m sure they get paid everytime it plays. Songs like Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” have quickly become torture to listen to. And this week’s new played out song is Black Eye Pea’s “I Gotta Feeling”. As quickly successful this song has become on the radio, big sports games, and every montage from here to Al Jazeera, I don’t think I can listen to it anymore. UNTIL… Youtube sensation and musically gifted David Choi saves the day. We’ve been following him since he was on FRA LIVE a few weeks ago and we’ve become instant fans…as well as half a million of other youtube users. He’s put out a version of BEP’s song that not only revives this played-out song, but also brings new creativity to videos all around. You have to check this out.

Here’s another video he did with the same style…but I don’t think he got this song off the radio.

LB released the song for free on his website, lyricsborn.com, in an excerpt for his upcoming LP, As U Were. In addition, LB shared with us the video for the song which was directed by HKL Films.

ANOTHER FLASH MOB HITS FRISCO

Last Thursday in San Francisco, another flash mob hit Powell and Market at the cable car turnaround at exactly 3:59pm (3.5.9). This random display of FUN was an all out pie fight. About a hundred people gathered with paper plates of whip cream or what makeshift pies they made and started throwing down. All I can say is, WHY NOBODY CALL US? Here’s some footage this guy put together. Looks crazy!

Flash mobs have been going on for a few years now in San Fran but originally started Internationally. I read some guys comment on youtube where they claimed a flash mob in the UK threw a million pounds at a train station. We can only imagine the chaos that would have gone down. Eye poking, breast grabbing, maybe even gas releasing. Do that in the hood here and people might get shot. But SF officials are contemplating whether to start shutting these flash mobs down. Tens of thousands of dollars had to be paid in damages from SF’s last flash mob which was an all out pillow fight on Valentine’s Day. Though the definition of a flash mob is the start the action in a flash and it ends in a flash, this pillow fight went on for HOURS!!! DAMN LA, why can’t you do shit like this? At the same time, how are you suppose to catch these people when it always happens randomly. Read more here about the article in SF GATE.
