DC OR BUST Part 5
Today was full of run and gun shooting. We were on a tight schedule because we had to get to Boston to catch Rick’s son’s basketball game. There were a bunch of places to visit in Indiana where Rick lived when he moved to America. I can’t remember the other place but one was Warsaw. Its actually perfect because Indiana is where basketball was invented, so why not a better place to live. GO HOOSIERS!
But we first tried to interview Cavs star Lebron James before his shoot around against the Chicago Bulls. I keep thinking to myself, it would probably be the best part of the trip if this happens. Big Ben said wassup. Plus I recognized Sasha. But no one else. We were in a time crunch so Lebron didn’t have “time” for us and we had to move on. But I did see him and that’s one huge dude. If I was in the NBA, I’d hate to guard him.
We hauled ass to the bus and off to Indiana. We visited Rick’s old High School coach and his school he played for. It was a trip witnessing Rick having a blast from the past. Of course some of his memorabilia was in their trophy case. Even old post up drills his coach invented were still there. I think the kids on the basketball team enjoyed very much Rick visit and the time he spent talking to them. Reflecting on it, its like meeting someone from my hometown, school, whatever, make it. Like truly make it and got to the highest level possible. It’s pretty awesome. I can neither confirm nor deny, but the visit really moved Rick. There might have been some red eyes afterwards.
Interesting story behind Rick’s senior year in high school. He couldn’t play. He was somehow enillegible because in Jamaica there’s a 13th grade in high school. Kinda like the Omish playing 15 frames of bowling instead of 10. Anyways, lets just say he was gifted. But the town was so frustrated of the rules and outcome of Rick not allowed to play, they took it to court. DAMN! That’s like small town movement. If you want more info, you gonna have to wait for the doc to come out.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN…Willie Nelson style. Back on the lovely bus again. I swear, it reminds me of living on the ship in the Navy days. Small spaces, even smaller racks, and nothing but time to kill. That night we had a session of name that tune with everywhere. Category: 80’s. I held my own. Can’t say I’m an expert but I can say Rick and Jason are. They have all the songs to prove it. But I def did surprise my skills to Jason when I knew it was the Revenge of the Nerds ending rap song. Comon, who doesn’t know that song word for word and the dance moves by Lamar Latrell. Off to Boston for Rick’s sons game.
Oh, Lebron lost that night to Derrick Rose and the Bulls. Karma’s a biatch. Here’s some pics I “borrowed” from Steph, our still photographer of earlier parts of the trip. She’s awesome. That’s my hand filming Chauncey, I swear.
