FIST OF FUHRER
In this week’s installment of Arowana Friday we’ll be checking out a piece that was shot a few years ago as the intro for the indy movie, “Finishing the Game“. “Finishing the Game” is a mockumentary directed by Justin Lin where it explores the time when Bruce Lee unexpectedly past away leaving his passion project “The Game of Death” unfinished. There was heard to be about 15 minutes of footage that Bruce Lee did shoot with the fighting scenes going up the pagoda and fighting villains like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in his famous yellow jump suit. When “Enter the Dragon” was a worldwide hit in the box office, studios knew they had to cash in on Bruce’s unfinished project, “The Game of Death” (damn money grubbin studios)… So “Finishing the Game” is a mockumentary about the casting call to see who would fill the shoes of Bruce Lee for “The Game of Death”. Make sense…
So director Justin Lin approached us to be apart of the journey and experience. Evan directed the 2nd unit shoots which entailed the Fist of Fuhrer and the bamboo scene. He was also a Co-Producer and Post Production Supervisor just to name a few. Greg came on as the Editor of the movie and did a remarkable job. Eric was Best Boy Grip who handled the grip trucks and anything you threw at him. Dennis was the 2nd 2nd Assistant Director and ran the show behind the show. Anson was an Associate Producer who had all the hook ups and also shot the making of the film documentary. So Arowana played a huge part in the entire process and followed the journey from beginning to end.
What we want to show you is the Fist of Fuhrer which was just BADASS. Great location and awesome fun. Don Tai, stuntman master, and his boys came out that day and tore it up. So in this segment, Roger Fan plays Breeze Loo, super B-list movie star. Fist of Fuhrer is one of many B-list movies Breeze Loo made. And as stated by his character, he doesn’t do his own stunts. FYI…Notice his skin color. Also the cigarette that Joe McQueen aka Leroy Jackson drops out of his mouth…we couldn’t find it. Don’t worry, no birds were harmed in this shooting.
And if you truly got enticed about “Finishing the Game”, as a special treat, here is the documentary of the making of the movie. It’s in three parts. Enjoy!
COMING SOON…interview with the highly anticipated movie Watchmen writer, Alex Tse.
