LOCAL POLITICIAN
Here’s another installment of Arowana Friday, where every Friday we feature either a brand new or an old video we’ve done in the past and give it the back story just for you guys. Today we want to feature “Local Politician” made in 2008 during the CRAZY election times.
The San Diego Asian American Film Festival was having a video contest “Reel in the Vote” to see if someone could make a 30 second PSA to help encourage Asian Americans to vote. Of course, every election there was always an issue of Asian Americans never having a voice because we never bothered to vote. (we, as in the younger generation) With Obama and Hillary running for Democratic Election and then the Presidency, there was an obvious need for us Asian Americans to REPRESENT! So we decided to send a message to HIT very hard to that target audience, young Asian Americans who just don’t give a f@%$! And so this video was then created by that inspiration.
Turns out we didn’t win the contest. We didn’t even get an honorable mention. But we guess it makes sense since it’s a little touchy and not everyone understands satire, sadly. Also, the SDAFF probably couldn’t pick this to represent themselves. BUT DAMN IT, its a great video! But like when you learned as a kid, winning isn’t everything.
P.S. Thanks to everyone for all the love and support from our featured youtube video, Kim Jong Il Eharmony. Watch out for the blog which will feature all the racist comments that got deleted.
