LOUISIANA HOT SAUCE

YOU’RE MINE!!! Last Tuesday Arowana Films shot a online video contest for Louisiana Hot Sauce. We put the brilliant minds together and came up with a funny script. With the shortage of actors who are about to go on strike, we had to dig deep into our talent pool and use ourselves. I did have formal training in drama from the Elementary School of the Kickball but I dunno if Smokey the Bear counts. “Crackle, crackle”. But to make this video come alive, we had to find a female talent…and fast!

We called in our homegirl, down for whatever, Sara Sohn to the set. She stepped up to the plate and did a great job! I loved her passion and motivation to jump at this opportunity. What was most important was she loved the script and she trusted us to take care of her. hahaha bad move. jk Sara. Although you got your revenge by choking the crap outta me.

So we converted our theater to a living room set and got some bomb OK Chinese food down the street. Seriously, the restaurant is called OK CHINESE FOOD. It’s not great, but its OK. They do have the best fried chicken wings though without a doubt! The hardest part was finding the specific brand of hot sauce. We searched through Ralphs and Vons and nothing. Local grocery stores. Nope! Finally Eric (webmaster), our savior, found it at Whole Foods. So the project was saved and luckily started shooting from 11:30am til 1:30pm.

Dennis had to practice really hard for his part. I mean staring and drooling like that takes time and dedication. Perfection is a lost art but I think years and years of living in Hollywood has helped him master his craft.

Funny thing was when Sara came over that morning and I was in my “costume”, she thought I just woke up and I wasn’t ready to shoot. C’mon, method actors are always ready. Maybe it was the hair. BTW, I looked exactly the same the day before and the day after the shoot. In the words of Kirk Lazarus, I stay in character til the DVD comes out!
