PROP 8 FEVER!!!
Finally, the long over due elections are here. Obama, I’m praying for you my friend. I didn’t watch you’re thirty minute air time after the World Series but I hope that move pays off. Cuz McCains last outcry on SNL was just sad. Its like pouring gas over yourself. I got no problem you being like Secretary of the Old People or something, but Barrack Obama for Prez baby!
I know I can talk about PROP 8 for eva eva but I’ll try to keep it to the point. What is it? Its a prop to eliminate same sex marriage in the California Constitution. My first true opinions on Prop 8: equal rights for everyone, NO ON 8, should totally lose since its Cali, should have women and minorities voting against it. civil rights all over again. BOOM! But then driving home one day, I see a gang of people demonstrating on the corner for YES ON 8. Then I see another. Then another. SO the research begins.
Turns out Mormons shelled out $25 Million for this to be on the ballot. Mormons not from California. A similar Prop was on last election which won with 61% BUT the supreme court overruled it because it was unconstitutional according to California Constitution. So its back to change the constitution, but dirtier than ever. Lies about how this will make schools teach about same sex marriage. TOTALLY FALSE. PSA ads with testimonials of people obviously reading cue card for YES. SO FUNNY. And claims of massive legal effects towards wedding photographers and churches. FALSE AGAIN. Huge money for lotsa ads on the internet. But the propaganda is definitely working on people.
I’m glad so many people endorse NO on 8 like Obama, Biden, Fienstein is the big one, and various movie stars with a brain. This Prop totally discriminates homosexuals. People may not care but there was a time when blacks, asians, WOMEN, were all discriminated. Who remembers Civil Rights movement, Asians not able to buy a home, women who couldn’t do shit. They say, homosexuals will still get the same benefits, they just can’t legally be “married”. So are we to treat gays and lesbians as less of a human beings. You can have this cuz you are people, but FOR SURE you can’t have this, cuz you’re not normal people. Cmon, are you serious! Thats just fuked up and wrong. There is no one religion that dictates the law. (sorry mormons)
A few days ago, the projected polls said NO at 49% and YES at 44%. SO its close, really close. The YES’s announced they are going to drop a few more million dollars on the campaign for ads and somehow bring out an extra 200,000 people to vote YES. I understand if most of you totally don’t give a shit and prob won’t vote but when you see someone being discriminated right in front you and you don’t do ANYTHING, then something is terribly wrong. If anything, go and GET THE FACTS YOURSELF.
