Arowana Friday people! We’re moving into December and closing out 2008. WOW! Today we’ll be looking at a music video by Jin the MC titled YUM DOM CHA (translation Drink Some Tea). What’s awesome about this song is its sung in Cantonese (Chinese), and for all you Canton villagers, the lyrics are on point and absolutely funny as hell. After many phone calls and security checks, we finally got to kick it with Sen. Barrack Obama. Yup, that Asian brother-in-law guy on stage with him all the time turns out its my mom’s, sister’s, cousin’s, cousin’s, dog’s, dog trainer whose brother knows him. Go figure right? Anyways it was wicked awesome. Security was really tight. Who would want to danger a maybe African American prez?
We talked about world politics, the economy, and even Zimpy’s chili in Hawaii. We had very similar views especially the representation of Asian Americans in Hollywood. I was impressed that he knew that the Departed was actually from China. He thought Infernal Affairs 2 was the best out of the three. He def understood where we were coming from and how if he could be the first African American President, then we could too make our mark in Hollywood. But once he said he liked Hanna Montana cuz of his daughters, he kinda lost some street cred with me. Read more...

Once again, another successful and memorable experience collaborating with our long time friend Ali Wong and her comedic partna Chris Garcia. Those two are some intelligent and funny ass people. Seriously, you try being a stand up comedian. I would have to say we’ve known Ali since probably 1995, maybe longer. (old age kickin in) Some of us grew up with her in a youth community center in San Francisco Chinatown (our hood) called Cameron House. Besides my good friend’s older sister, Ali was the only other girl I had heard and felt her FART! That was when I knew she was destine for greater accomplishments. Read more...
