The song Last Trumpet is off Lyrics Born first solo album entitled Later that Day. Its probably our most favorite hip hop album of all time. If you listen to this album from start to beginning, you will transform to a new person with a new appreciation of hip hop, guaranteed! This is hip hop, at ITS FINEST!

We shot this on good old standard definition and ran around San Francisco, using our favorite spots like Fort Miley, Cameron House, the Financial District, up near cliff house, the Bay Bridge, the bart station, Portsmouth Square Parking garage, and on top of our homies rooftop in Nob Hill. Pretty much everywhere we could shoot for free. Luckily cops didn’t really care either. We love SF!

This video actually won an Alice Radio Station 3 Minute Film Festival award for Original Music Video category in 2006. What’s crazy is that this song was actually made pre 9/11. If you listen to the words, you would swear it would have been post 9/11. So this song spoke volumes. But of course since the music video wasn’t made until after 2001, MTV and other music video outlets refused to air it.

But this was Arowana Films first music video and def wasn’t the last. But its always good to reflect on past work. So enjoy some old school work that still KICKS ASS today!

I remember this being an all night shoot at a Chinese cafe on Fairfax from like 9pm to 5am. We had a bunch of cameos like the Finishing the Game cast, Sung, Roger, Jimmy, and McCaleb our token white guy. We also pulled out the favors to get special friends from the modeling world, Aiko, KT, and Helen. If Dim Sum entailed models in bikinis, I’d eat there everyday. Hell, someone should open a dim sum joint where instead of old ladies pushing carts, it would be girls in bikinis. GENIUS! Plus the FM boys came to represent, along with some of their peeps to help out as extras. Can’t forget Grace and Hosanna too. Thanks everyone!

Also I believe it was the first time collabing with our friends from Siho Media, Jason, David, and Dave. Jason Inouye was the DP (Director of Photography). He’s done a lot of videos like Black Eye Peas and a few features. So we knew we were in good hands. He did a great job giving the video a special look that we wanted. These guys are the shit!

I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who didn’t like Dim Sum. I think Dim Sum was originated on the Silk Road where they had teahouses for travelers to rest. At first they thought tea and food was a bad combination but later discovered that tea helped the digestion. And later is just became part of the Cantonese cuisine. I think my top five favorite dishes are
1. Har Gow – Shrimp Dumpling
2. Foong Jow – Chicken Feet (YUMMY!!!!)
3. Law Mai Gai – Sticky Rice w Chicken wrapped in leaf
4. Low Bak Gow – Fried Taro Turnip Cake
5. Don Tot – Egg Custard Dessert

Guess what today is? Another installment of Arowana Fridayyyyyy. Sometimes I wish everyday was Friday, but then that would just mean Saturday or Sunday would never come. Anyways, today we’re going to be checking out a music video we did a while back, ROUND ROUND, with our homies Kevnish, Prohgress, and J-Splif (with short hair) from FAR EAST MOVEMENT. If you ever bought a Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift HD DVD, you’d actually find the music video on there. Sick huh. It wuz until Blue-Ray kicked HD’s ass!

It was a full day shoot at a parking garage structure somewhere in LA . We called in our boy AJ to help us get the cars from the movie along with some from Toys R Us, some handsome actors from the movie SUNG KANG and LEONARDO NAM to make cameos, a bunch of lovely ladies (MODELS FROM HEAVEN) to help the sausage fest ratio, hot dogs times 200, and a bunch of great people that were down for the cause to help make the shoot possible.

Here’s the special treat. I’m gonna let you guys in on the secret cameos that Arowana Films made in the video. Check it out! At 1:41, you’ll see Dennis the 1st AD in red. Oops, haha. At 2:04, you’ll see Anson on the left holding a camera (he’s actually shooting the Behind the Scenes Doc at the same time being an extra). At 3:30, you’ll see Evan (the director) running off camera in the background. HAHAHA! Overall the project was a complete success. It was an amazing experience to work with great people like FM and many others. These are the days we cherish forever. For more behind the scenes footage, check out the doc Anson made for it here. Please don’t be offended for the first minute of it. We were young.
